About the Team

Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), brings together an elite team of highly trained professionals. Camaraderie, pride, and a shared sense of purpose are hallmarks of our daily mission to protect America. We offer skilled pilots an opportunity to transition into law enforcement, joining a group dedicated to the detection, prevention, and interdiction of threats at the nation's borders.

About the Role

As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will serve as a critical asset in aviation-based law enforcement operations. Your primary mission is to detect, prevent, and apprehend terrorists, weapons, and contraband attempting to illegally enter or attack the United States. This role is designed for those seeking an exciting and rewarding career characterized by exceptional federal benefits, job stability, and the chance to work with a dedicated team.

Your day-to-day activities will involve conducting air patrols, surveillance, and pursuit operations targeting smuggled contraband moving via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels. You will monitor behavior patterns of suspect persons and assets, collect and analyze strategic intelligence, and support search and rescue and humanitarian efforts. This position demands rapid decision-making and the ability to coordinate aircraft and ground assets in diverse environments, including night operations, poor weather, and low altitudes.

Hiring Process and Application Instructions

AMO utilizes a streamlined application process for full-time security-based opportunities. There are three primary ways to apply:

  1. Direct Contact: Complete the Air Interdiction Agent applicant checklist and email it to a recruiter at cbp_amo_recruiting@cbp.dhs.gov along with your resume.
  2. USAJOBS: Submit your application directly through the USAJOBS portal.
  3. Airline Apps: Apply via the Airline Apps platform.

Stay Updated: We highly recommend opting into CBP's talent repository. Select the Contact a Recruiter button, choose Air and Marine Operations and Air Interdiction Agent as your position of interest, and complete the pre-screening questions. This ensures you receive monthly updates regarding webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.

Successful candidates will undergo a three-part assessment. Upon completion, a duty location will be offered based on operational and mission requirements. You must be willing to work at any location within the selected region, which may include the Southeast Region (Homestead, FL; Aguadilla, PR), Southwest Region (AZ, CA, TX), or NASOC UAS locations (Sierra Vista, AZ; San Angelo, TX).

Equal Opportunity and Culture

We are an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse workforce. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background. As a federal law enforcement position within the Department of Homeland Security, this role adheres to specific age and citizenship requirements to ensure the safety and integrity of the mission. Veterans' preference eligibility is recognized in accordance with federal statutes.
