Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Our mission is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to detect, prevent, and interdict terrorists, weapons, and contraband from illegally entering or attacking the United States. We offer skilled pilots an opportunity to join a law enforcement culture where daily operations are driven by a commitment to national security and public safety.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will serve as a critical asset in aviation-based law enforcement. This role is designed for experienced pilots seeking an exciting and rewarding career that combines professional flying with high-stakes security operations. You will perform air patrol, surveillance, and pursuit activities to intercept smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels. Your day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring suspect behavior patterns, collecting and analyzing strategic intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts. This is a full-time, security-based position offering exceptional federal benefits, job stability, and the chance to work with a team that values your expertise.
The recruitment process for Air Interdiction Agents is streamlined but rigorous. There are three primary ways to apply: submit the applicant checklist and resume via email to a recruiter, apply through USAJOBS, or apply through Airline Apps. Highly recommended candidates also opt into CBP's talent repository to receive monthly updates on webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.
Successful candidates will undergo a three-part assessment to determine their suitability for the role. Upon completion of this assessment, a duty location will be offered based on operational and mission requirements. New hires must be willing to work at any duty location within the selected region, which includes the Southeast, Southwest, Caribbean Air and Marine Branch (CAMB), and National Air Security Operation Centers (NASOC) UAS locations. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy (FLETC).
We are an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse workforce. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background. Veterans' preference eligibility is recognized in accordance with federal statutes, and specific age waivers may apply for those with creditable law enforcement service or veterans' preference status.
