Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Our mission is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to detect, prevent, and interdict terrorists, weapons, and contraband from illegally entering or attacking the United States. We offer skilled pilots an opportunity to join a law enforcement culture where every member plays a critical role in national security.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will serve as a skilled pilot and law enforcement officer, performing aviation-based operations to secure the nation's borders. This is a unique career path that combines high-performance flying with the authority and responsibility of federal law enforcement. You will conduct air patrols, surveillance, and pursuit activities targeting smuggled contraband via land, air, and sea. Your day-to-day work involves monitoring suspect behavior, analyzing strategic intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts. This role is designed for seasoned pilots and those with military training who are eager to apply their skills in a dynamic, mission-critical environment.
The recruitment process for Air Interdiction Agents is streamlined but rigorous, designed to identify the most qualified candidates. There are three primary ways to apply: submit the applicant checklist and resume via email to a recruiter, apply through USAJOBS, or apply via Airline Apps. We highly recommend opting into CBP's talent repository by selecting the Contact a Recruiter button and choosing Air and Marine Operations, Air Interdiction Agent to receive updates on webinars and career expos.
Successful candidates will undergo a three-part assessment to determine their suitability for the role. Upon completion of the assessment, a duty location will be offered based on operational and mission requirements. New hires must be willing to work at any location within the selected region, including the Southeast, Southwest, Caribbean Air and Marine Branch (CAMB), or National Air Security Operation Centers (NASOC) UAS locations. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy (FLETC).
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or genetic information. Veterans' preference eligibility is recognized in accordance with federal statutes, and specific age waivers may apply for veterans and those with prior creditable law enforcement service. We are committed to building a diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
