Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Our mission is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to detect, prevent, and interdict terrorists, weapons, and contraband from illegally entering or attacking the United States.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will join a rewarding career in aviation-based law enforcement. This role is designed for skilled pilots seeking a dynamic environment where they can utilize their expertise to support national security. You will perform critical duties including air patrol, surveillance, and pursuit activities targeting smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels. Your day-to-day work involves monitoring suspect behavior, analyzing strategic and tactical intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts.
AMO is actively recruiting for these full-time security-based opportunities. We are particularly seeking seasoned pilots and those with military training to join our ranks. This is a unique opportunity to work with a team that values your specialized skills in a high-stakes, mission-critical environment.
There are three primary ways to apply to become an Air Interdiction Agent:
Stay Updated: We highly recommend opting into CBP's talent repository by selecting the Contact a Recruiter button. Choose Air and Marine Operations and Air Interdiction Agent as your position of interest to complete pre-screening questions. This will enroll you in a monthly email list featuring information about webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.
Assessment & Location: A duty location will be offered after successfully completing a three-part assessment. You must be willing to work at any duty location within the region you select, including the Southeast Region, Southwest Region, Caribbean Air and Marine Branch (CAMB), or National Air Security Operation Centers (NASOC) UAS locations.
We are an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse workforce. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background.
Veterans' Preference: To ensure compliance with statutes pertaining to the appointment of preference-eligible veterans, the maximum age restriction for original appointment does not apply to individuals entitled to veterans' preference eligibility under 5 U.S.C. 3312. Proof of Veteran's Preference (DD-214 Member 4 Copy) must be submitted at the time of application.
Age Requirements: While the standard maximum age for original appointment to a primary law enforcement officer within DHS is the day before an individual's 37th birthday, the Commissioner of CBP has approved a temporary increase to age 40 for original placement into an Air Interdiction Agent position. Creditable law enforcement service may also be applied toward the maximum age requirement.
