Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Our mission is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to detect, prevent, and interdict terrorists, weapons, and contraband from illegally entering or attacking the United States. We offer skilled pilots an opportunity to join a law enforcement career that combines aviation expertise with national security.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will perform aviation-based law enforcement operations to secure the nation's borders. This is a full-time, security-based role designed for those seeking an exciting and rewarding career with exceptional federal benefits and job stability. You will partner with a team to conduct air patrols, surveillance, and pursuit activities targeting smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels. Your day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring suspect behavior, analyzing strategic and tactical intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts.
AMO is actively recruiting seasoned pilots and those with military training. Whether you are flying fixed-wing aircraft or unmanned systems, you will be part of a mission-critical operation where your skills directly impact national safety. Locations are assigned based on operational and mission requirements, offering opportunities across the Southeast, Southwest, and Caribbean regions, as well as National Air Security Operation Centers (NASOC).
The application process for Air Interdiction Agents is streamlined but rigorous. There are three primary ways to apply:
After applying, candidates must successfully complete a three-part assessment. A duty location will be offered following this assessment, and you must be willing to work at any location within the region selected. New hires are required to successfully complete the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy (FLETC) as a condition of employment.
We are committed to building a diverse workforce that reflects the nation we serve. AMO values the unique backgrounds and experiences of our applicants. We offer a temporary increase in the maximum allowable age to 40 for original placement into an Air Interdiction Agent position, and veterans' preference eligibility is fully recognized in accordance with federal statutes. By joining AMO, you become part of a culture that prioritizes mission success, professional excellence, and the safety of the American public.
