Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Our mission is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to detect, prevent, and interdict terrorists, weapons, and contraband from illegally entering the United States.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will join a rewarding career in aviation-based law enforcement. This role is designed for skilled pilots seeking a dynamic environment where they can utilize their expertise to support national security. You will perform critical duties including air patrol, surveillance, and pursuit activities targeting smuggled contraband via land, air, or sea. Your day-to-day work involves monitoring suspect behavior, analyzing strategic intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts.
AMO is actively recruiting for these full-time security-based opportunities. We are particularly seeking seasoned pilots and those with military training to join our ranks. This is a unique opportunity to work with a team that values your specialized skills in a mission-critical capacity.
The application process for Air Interdiction Agents is streamlined but rigorous. There are three primary ways to apply:
Stay Updated: We highly recommend opting into CBP's talent repository. Select the Contact a Recruiter button, choose Air and Marine Operations and Air Interdiction Agent as your position of interest, and complete the pre-screening questions. This ensures you receive monthly updates on webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.
Successful candidates will undergo a three-part assessment. Upon completion, a duty location will be offered based on operational and mission requirements. You must be willing to work at any location within the selected region, including the Southeast, Southwest, Caribbean Air and Marine Branch (CAMB), or National Air Security Operation Centers (NASOC) UAS locations.
We are an equal opportunity employer and consider qualified applicants regardless of background. We are committed to diversity and inclusion within our ranks.
Veterans' Preference: To ensure compliance with statutes, the maximum age requirement for original appointment does not apply to individuals entitled to veterans' preference eligibility under 5 U.S.C. 3312. Proof of Veteran's Preference (DD-214 Member 4 Copy) must be submitted at the time of application.
Age Requirements: While the standard maximum age for initial appointment to a primary law enforcement officer within DHS is the day before an individual's 37th birthday, the Commissioner of CBP has approved a temporary increase to age 40 for original placement into an Air Interdiction Agent position. Creditable law enforcement service may also be applied toward the maximum age requirement.
