Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Our mission is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to detect, prevent, and interdict terrorists, weapons, and contraband from illegally entering or attacking the United States.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will serve as a skilled pilot and law enforcement officer, performing aviation-based operations to secure the nation's borders. This is a unique opportunity to combine your aviation expertise with a rewarding career in federal law enforcement. You will work alongside a dedicated team to conduct air patrols, surveillance, and pursuit activities against smuggled contraband via land, air, or sea. Your day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring suspect behavior, analyzing strategic intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts.
We are actively recruiting seasoned pilots and those with military training to join our ranks. This role offers the chance to work with an elite group where your skills are in high demand, contributing directly to the safety and security of the country.
There are three ways to apply to become an Air Interdiction Agent:
Stay Updated: We highly recommend opting into CBP's talent repository by selecting the Contact a Recruiter button. Choose Air and Marine Operations and Air Interdiction Agent as your position of interest to complete pre-screening questions. You will receive monthly emails regarding webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.
Assessment & Location: A duty location will be offered after successfully completing a three-part assessment. Locations are determined by operational and mission requirements. You must be willing to work at any duty location within the region you select, which may include the Southeast Region (Homestead, FL; Aguadilla, PR), Southwest Region (AZ, CA, TX), or NASOC UAS locations (AZ, TX).
We are an equal opportunity employer and consider qualified applicants regardless of background. We are committed to diversity and inclusion within our ranks. Note that while the maximum age for original appointment to a primary law enforcement officer within DHS is generally 37, the Commissioner of CBP has approved a temporary increase to age 40 for Air Interdiction Agent positions. Veterans' preference eligibility may also affect age requirements.
