Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Our mission is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to detect, prevent, and interdict terrorists, weapons, and contraband from illegally entering or attacking the United States. We offer skilled pilots an opportunity to join a law enforcement culture where daily operations are driven by a critical national security mandate.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will serve as a pilot and law enforcement officer, performing aviation-based operations to secure the nation's borders. This is a unique career path that combines high-performance flying with the authority and responsibility of federal law enforcement. You will conduct air patrols, surveillance, and pursuit activities targeting smuggled contraband via land, air, and sea. Your day-to-day involves monitoring suspect behavior, analyzing strategic intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts.
This role is designed for seasoned pilots and those with military training who are seeking a rewarding career with exceptional stability. You will work alongside a team that values operational excellence and mission readiness. The position offers the chance to make a tangible impact on national security while enjoying the benefits of a federal career.
AMO utilizes a streamlined application process for Air Interdiction Agents. There are three primary ways to apply:
Stay Updated: We highly recommend opting into CBP's talent repository by selecting the "Contact a Recruiter" button. Choose "Air and Marine Operations" and "Air Interdiction Agent" as your position of interest to complete pre-screening questions. This ensures you receive monthly updates on webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.
Assessment and Location: Upon successful completion of a three-part assessment, you will receive a final offer letter. Duty locations are assigned based on operational and mission requirements. You must be willing to work at any location within the selected region, including the Southeast Region (Homestead, FL; Aguadilla, PR), Southwest Region (AZ, CA, TX), or NASOC UAS locations (AZ, TX).
We are an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse workforce. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background.
Age and Veterans: While the standard maximum age for initial appointment to a primary law enforcement officer within DHS is 37, the Commissioner of CBP has approved a temporary increase to age 40 for Air Interdiction Agents. Veterans' preference eligibility may also affect age requirements. Proof of Veteran's Preference (DD-214 Member 4 Copy) must be submitted at the time of application for those eligible.
Training: Successful completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy (FLETC) and other required training courses is a condition of employment. Failure to complete these requirements may result in separation or reassignment.
