Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Our mission is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to detect, prevent, and interdict terrorists, weapons, and contraband from illegally entering or attacking the United States. We offer skilled pilots an opportunity to join a law enforcement culture where daily operations are driven by a critical national security mandate.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will serve as a pilot in aviation-based law enforcement operations. This role is designed for those seeking an exciting and rewarding career that combines professional flying with the stability and benefits of federal service. You will work alongside a team of experts to conduct air patrols, surveillance, and pursuit activities targeting smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels. Your day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring suspect behavior, analyzing strategic intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts. This is a full-time, security-based position where your expertise directly impacts the safety of the nation's borders.
The application process for Air Interdiction Agents is streamlined but rigorous, reflecting the high standards of the role. There are three primary ways to apply: submit the applicant checklist and resume via email to a recruiter, apply through USAJOBS, or apply through Airline Apps.
Candidates selected for further consideration will undergo a three-part assessment. Upon successful completion of this assessment, a duty location will be offered. Please note that duty locations are determined by operational and mission requirements, and candidates must be willing to work at any location within the selected region (Southeast, Southwest, or NASOC UAS locations).
New hires are also required to successfully complete the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy (FLETC) as a condition of employment. Failure to complete the required training may result in separation or reassignment.
AMO values a diverse workforce and considers qualified applicants regardless of background. We offer a unique career path for pilots who wish to transition into law enforcement, providing exceptional federal benefits, job stability, and competitive compensation packages that include special salary rates and availability pay. We encourage veterans and those with military flight experience to apply, as their skills are highly valued within our mission-critical operations.
