Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Our mission is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to detect, prevent, and interdict terrorists, weapons, and contraband from illegally entering the United States. We offer skilled pilots an opportunity to join a law enforcement culture where daily operations are driven by a commitment to national security and public safety.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will serve as a skilled pilot and law enforcement officer, performing aviation-based operations to secure the nation's borders. This role is designed for those seeking an exciting and rewarding career with exceptional federal benefits and job stability. You will partner with ground assets to conduct air patrols, surveillance, and pursuit activities targeting smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels. Your day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring suspect behavior patterns, analyzing strategic intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts. This is a security-based position where your expertise in flight operations directly contributes to the safety of the United States.
The recruitment process for Air Interdiction Agents is streamlined but rigorous. There are three primary ways to apply: submit the applicant checklist and resume via email to a recruiter, apply through USAJOBS, or apply through Airline Apps. Highly recommended, candidates should also opt into CBP's talent repository to receive monthly updates on webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.
Successful candidates will undergo a three-part assessment. Upon completion, a duty location will be offered based on operational and mission requirements. You must be willing to work at any duty location within the selected region, which includes the Southeast, Southwest, Caribbean Air and Marine Branch (CAMB), and National Air Security Operation Centers (NASOC) UAS locations.
AMO actively recruits seasoned pilots and those with military training, recognizing the unique value they bring to the team. We offer significant incentives for new hires, including recruitment and retention bonuses, alongside a competitive salary structure that reflects the specialized nature of the work. This role is ideal for professionals who value a mission-driven environment where their skills are in high demand and their contributions are vital to the agency's success.
