Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Our mission is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to detect, prevent, and interdict terrorists, weapons, and contraband from illegally entering or attacking the United States. We offer skilled pilots an opportunity to join a law enforcement career that combines aviation expertise with a critical national security mandate.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will serve as a pilot in aviation-based law enforcement operations. This role is designed for those seeking an exciting, rewarding career with exceptional federal benefits and job stability. You will work alongside a dedicated team to conduct air patrols, surveillance, and pursuit activities targeting smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels. Your day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring suspect behavior patterns, collecting and analyzing strategic intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts. This position is ideal for seasoned pilots and those with military training who are ready to apply their skills to a high-stakes mission.
The application process for Air Interdiction Agents is streamlined but rigorous. There are three primary ways to apply:
Stay Updated: We highly recommend opting into CBP's talent repository by selecting the "Contact a Recruiter" button. Choose "Air and Marine Operations" and "Air Interdiction Agent" as your position of interest to receive monthly updates on webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.
Assessment and Placement: Successful candidates will complete a three-part assessment. Duty locations are assigned based on operational and mission requirements after this assessment. You must be willing to work at any duty location within the region you select, which may include the Southeast Region (Homestead, FL; Aguadilla, PR), Southwest Region (AZ, CA, TX), or NASOC UAS locations (AZ, TX).
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background. As a federal law enforcement agency, we adhere to strict citizenship and residency requirements, including a maximum age limit for original appointment (currently 40 for this specific role, with waivers available for veterans and certain federal service members). We are committed to building a diverse workforce that reflects the nation we serve.
