Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Our mission is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to detect, prevent, and interdict terrorists, weapons, and contraband from entering the United States via air, land, or sea.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will join a rewarding career in law enforcement where your aviation expertise directly supports national security. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with a skilled team of pilots and agents in a dynamic environment. You will perform aviation-based operations to patrol, surveil, and pursue smuggled contraband and illegal persons. Your day-to-day activities involve monitoring suspect behavior, analyzing tactical intelligence, and supporting search and rescue missions. Whether flying fixed-wing aircraft or unmanned systems, you will be at the forefront of securing our borders.
AMO utilizes a streamlined application process for qualified candidates. There are three primary ways to apply:
Stay Updated: We highly recommend opting into CBP's talent repository by selecting the Contact a Recruiter button. Choose Air and Marine Operations and Air Interdiction Agent as your position of interest to receive monthly updates on webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.
We are an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse workforce. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background.
Age & Veterans: While the standard maximum age for original appointment to a primary law enforcement officer within DHS is 37, the Commissioner of CBP has approved a temporary increase to age 40 for Air Interdiction Agents. Veterans' preference eligibility may also affect age requirements. We actively encourage applications from veterans and those with military flight experience.
Duty Locations: Successful candidates must be willing to work at any duty location within the selected region, including the Southeast (Homestead, FL; Aguadilla, PR), Southwest (AZ, CA, TX), or NASOC UAS locations (Sierra Vista, AZ; San Angelo, TX). Locations are assigned based on operational and mission requirements following a three-part assessment.
