The Adaptive Behavior (AB) Aide is a vital support role within Spring Independent School District, designed to bridge the gap between instruction and the physical needs of students with disabilities. Reporting directly to the Principal, this position operates within a special education setting where the primary mission is to ensure every student receives the physical and instructional support necessary to thrive.
This role exists to empower special education teachers by handling critical logistical and care tasks. From preparing instructional materials and maintaining an orderly classroom environment to managing essential records and reports, the AB Aide ensures the teacher can focus on curriculum delivery. The position also requires the ability to remain emotionally controlled and effective during high-stress situations, including crisis intervention and behavior management.
At Spring Independent School District, integrity and student advocacy are at the core of our operations. All employees are expected to champion the needs of our students, communicate with clarity and respect, and drive continuous improvement. This role demands a unique blend of patience, physical stamina, and emotional resilience to navigate an environment characterized by frequent interruptions and the need for multi-tasking.
Candidates for this position must meet specific academic and testing requirements. Applicants are required to have completed 48 hours of college coursework from an accredited institution. Additionally, successful candidates must pass the Spring Independent School District's NCLB test in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics; these tests are administered after a recommendation for hire is made.
While prior experience working with children with disabilities and an Associate's Degree or higher are preferred, the district is committed to finding individuals who demonstrate the ability to work effectively with children and communicate clearly.
