Under the supervision of the Agriculture Program Chair, the Greenhouse Assistant plays a vital role in the daily operations of the campus greenhouse. This position offers students the opportunity to apply decision-making skills and take on advanced responsibilities while contributing to the cultivation of fruit, vegetable, and tropical plants.
The role involves a hands-on approach to plant care, including planting, growing, maintaining, and harvesting crops as directed. Beyond horticultural duties, the assistant is responsible for maintaining accurate records, performing essential custodial tasks such as sweeping and sanitizing equipment, and completing various organizational projects within the greenhouse environment.
This position is specifically designed for Marion Campus students who are Work Study eligible. To qualify, applicants must have a completed FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need and must maintain a minimum of 6 credit hours of enrollment in eligible courses. Additionally, candidates must maintain an aid-eligible Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) status.
