The Department of Agricultural & Technology Education is housed within the College of Agriculture and the Montana Agricultural Experiment Station (MAES). The department is dedicated to serving students and stakeholders through a dynamic program focused on rural leadership, technological advancement, and proven scientific and educational practices. Grounded in basic and applied research, the department aims to improve professional and technical skills through formal and non-formal education in agriculture and industrial technology.
The department offers two degree programs with two major options each: Agricultural Education (Broadfield Teaching or Communications, Leadership, and Extension) and Applied Technology Management (Broadfield Teaching or Industry Option), along with a teaching minor in Technology Education. Additionally, the department provides both on-campus and online Master's degree options.
As the foundation of the land-grant mission at Montana State University, the College of Agriculture and MAES provide instruction in traditional and innovative degree programs while conducting research on challenges facing Montana's agricultural community. This integration creates opportunities for students and faculty to excel through hands-on learning, serve through campus and community engagement, and connect Montanans with the global community through research discoveries and outreach.
