At Chula Vista Medical Center, this position serves as a critical bridge between patient care and financial operations. The role ensures the processing of clean claims by coordinating all registration functions, from obtaining patient demographics to securing financial responsibility. You will utilize Patient Secure to identify accurate medical records while strictly adhering to EMTALA regulations. This is a face-to-face role where you will conduct interviews with patients and their representatives, balancing the need for accurate data collection with premier customer service.
The position operates within a dynamic environment where you will manage collections, verify insurance coverage, and navigate complex regulatory requirements. Whether handling emergency department calls, facilitating transfers, or managing patient valuables, your work directly supports the hospital's mission to provide high-quality care while maintaining financial integrity. You will be expected to demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and a positive attitude, often adapting to stressful situations with tact and empathy.
This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU-UHW. As a condition of employment, successful candidates are required to join the union within 31 days of hire and remain a member for the duration of the agreement.
