City Year is an AmeriCorps program dedicated to helping students across schools succeed. Our teams of AmeriCorps members provide comprehensive support to students, classrooms, and the entire school community. Our mission is to ensure that students receive a high-quality education that equips them with the skills and mindset necessary to thrive and contribute to their communities.
As a Student Success Coach and Mentor, you will serve as a City Year AmeriCorps Member, focusing on coaching and mentoring elementary, middle, and/or high school students. Your service is designed to help students achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors at school.
You will plan and monitor individual student progress while collaborating with teachers on whole-class instruction, breakout spaces, and in-class assistance. While experience in these specific tasks is not required, you will receive 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to prepare you for the role. You will work alongside partner teachers and school staff every step of the way to create an engaging, safe, and healthy classroom environment.
Your impact will extend beyond the classroom through whole-school initiatives. You will support extended day and virtual programming before, during, and after school, including academic enrichment, homework support, recreation, and leadership development. Additionally, you will help create and co-lead events that recognize and celebrate student growth in math, literacy, attendance, and behavior.
To apply, visit the City Year application portal at joincityyear.force.com and submit your completed application online. For additional information on the application process, please visit cityyear.org. For more details about this specific role, you may also visit our website.
