About the Role

This position offers a dynamic opportunity to perform professional teaching services within a supportive school environment. The role is designed to assist students in developing the essential skills, attitudes, and knowledge required for future learning, tailored to each student's unique abilities. Working under the limited supervision of the Principal, the teacher utilizes a variety of instructional methods across different levels to engage a targeted audience.

The position emphasizes the creation of a respectful and inclusive environment where every child has a positive, nurturing relationship with caring adults. Teachers are expected to embrace diversity, treat students as individuals with high expectations, and adapt instruction to benefit students with special needs through collaboration with specialists.

The role is grounded in five core standards that define the teaching profession:

• Leadership: Teachers are expected to lead in the classroom by taking responsibility for all students' learning and to work collaboratively with school personnel to create a professional learning community. This includes advocating for positive change in policies and practices affecting student learning while upholding high ethical standards.
• Diverse Population: The mission includes fostering a climate that is inviting, respectful, and flexible. Teachers must demonstrate knowledge of diverse cultures and work collaboratively with families to improve communication between the school, home, and community.

Hiring and Application

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree from an approved education program in the subject area and a strong background in the North Carolina Course of Study. A valid NC Teaching License in the appropriate subject area is required, or the candidate must have the qualifications to obtain one.

Salary is determined based on the North Carolina Teaching Salary Schedule. The position requires adherence to health and safety policies, board policies, and district goals, with a focus on maintaining confidentiality regarding student and family records.
