For its first several decades, the credit union functioned without paid staff or a permanent building, utilizing various campus locations including the Wyoming Student Union and McWhinnie Hall before establishing its first owned facility on 15th Street in 1980.
The institution has maintained a consistent commitment to its members and the University of Wyoming community. In 2005, UniWyo pledged one million dollars to the UW Foundation to support annual scholarships and subsequently opened an on-campus branch in McWhinnie Hall. The organization expanded its physical footprint further with a location on Grand Avenue in 2015 and a new branch in Cheyenne in 2020.
