Counseling and Prevention Services (CAPS) is a vital part of Utah State University's Division of Student Success. Accredited by the International Accreditation of Counseling Services (IACS) since 1996, our mid-size team brings together professionals from psychology, social work, and counseling. We are dedicated to providing culturally responsive services, fostering a welcoming environment where clear, respectful, and compassionate communication is the norm. Our shared values include lifelong learning, self-reflection, and an open-door policy that encourages collaboration and work-life balance.
The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Utah State University is a premier institution established on a strong tradition of innovation and One Health principles. With the launch of our new four-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program, we are committed to advancing animal health, public health, and biomedical sciences in Utah and beyond. The CVM community is built on a foundation of serving local and global communities with dedication and excellence.
The Wellness Program Lead serves as the primary mental health expert for the College of Veterinary Medicine, dedicated exclusively to supporting the wellbeing of CVM students. As an embedded member of CAPS, you will foster a culture of wellness within the academic environment while providing direct clinical services. This role is a unique blend of program coordination and clinical practice, designed to address the evolving mental health needs of veterinary students and the broader CVM community.
In this position, you will act as a strategic partner to CVM faculty and staff, leading the CVM Wellness Committee and collaborating with Student Services to integrate wellbeing into the curriculum. Your day-to-day involves developing student-centered prevention programs, conducting strategic assessments, and providing individual and group counseling (both face-to-face and via teletherapy). You will also manage crisis interventions, conduct intake and triage, and offer drop-in hours for students. Beyond clinical duties, you may provide instructional support in professional skills courses and consult with faculty on student mental health concerns. This is a 12-month fiscal year position working 40 hours per week, with one month of summer leave coordinated with the other embedded clinician.
