As a Locum Veterinarian at Banfield Pet Hospital, you will serve as a vital member of our veterinary team, providing essential preventative care, diagnosis, and treatment for pets. This role is designed to ensure the highest standards of animal welfare while supporting our mission to deliver exceptional veterinary services to pet owners. You will act as an advocate for pets, guiding clients through treatment recommendations and fostering trust through compassionate, professional care.
Your day will involve a dynamic mix of clinical duties and client interaction. You will utilize safe restraining techniques to ensure the safety of pets, clients, and associates while maintaining clean and sterile treatment areas. From obtaining detailed medical histories to performing basic surgeries and administering preventative care, you will manage a diverse caseload with efficiency. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to educating clients on pet health needs and communicating complex diagnoses and treatment plans clearly to both the veterinary team and pet owners. You will also ensure strict adherence to local, state, and federal laws, including the maintenance of controlled substance inventories.
This position offers the flexibility of a locum role, often requiring special hours including weekends and evenings to meet client needs and work volume. You may occasionally encounter anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medication. The role requires physical stamina to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds, as well as the ability to work confidently around animals that may bite or scratch.
