River Delta Unified School District is a K-12 district serving the communities of Clarksburg, Hood, Courtland, Walnut Grove, Ryde, Locke, Isleton, Rio Vista, Birds Landing, and Collinsville across Sacramento, Solano, and Yolo counties. With an enrollment of 1,880 students across eight small schools, the District is committed to providing a quality education with high standards for student success.
The District continually improves its curriculum and instructional strategies, prioritizing staff development and ongoing professional learning. We strive to ensure that educational excellence is not compromised while meeting the expectations of our families and community.
The Board of Trustees seeks highly qualified coaches to enhance the knowledge, skills, motivation, and safety of student-athletes in our sports and interscholastic athletic programs. As a Head Varsity Coach at Rio Vista High School, you will serve as the primary liaison between the coaching staff and the Athletic Director, ensuring full compliance with the rules, regulations, and policies of the California Interscholastic Federation, the League, and the District.
In this role, you will establish the fundamental philosophy and techniques for your sport, design staff development opportunities, and supervise the implementation of all program activities. Your day-to-day responsibilities include managing staff effectiveness, maintaining discipline, and fostering a positive environment for student-athletes. You will be directly responsible for the safety and conduct of your squad, ensuring that all participants adhere to the Athletic Code of Conduct and that proper safeguards are in place for equipment and facilities.
A key aspect of this position is building strong public relations with the media, parents, officials, volunteers, and fans. You will also coordinate facility needs, manage equipment inventory, and ensure that all transportation and travel logistics meet strict district safety requirements. The Head Coach is accountable for the professional growth of their staff and the overall success of the athletic program.
To be hired and cleared to coach, applicants must complete a comprehensive series of training certificates assigned through the District training system. These include courses on Sexual Harassment, General Coaching, Sports Specifics, Concussions, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Heat Acclimatization, Bloodborne Pathogens, Youth Suicide Prevention, Title IX, Asthma Awareness, Social Media, Homeless Education, Sportsmanship, and Bullying/Hazing. Please note that some coursework requires fees, which are the responsibility of the coach.
In addition to district training, candidates must provide a negative TB test, a First Aid/CPR certificate, a valid driver's license, and proof of State of California Mandated Reporting certification. All volunteer coaches must also be cleared by the District prior to working with athletes.
River Delta Unified School District is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion. We value the unique backgrounds and perspectives that all individuals bring to our schools and athletic programs.
