This position serves as a vital link in the City's infrastructure maintenance, ensuring the seamless operation of the sewer system. The role focuses on performing sewer line cleaning and responding to emergency stoppages at citizen properties. You will work collaboratively with Utility Inspectors, Public Works staff, plumbers, and contractors to locate sewer lines and conduct essential diagnostic tests, including dye testing, smoke testing, and CCTV inspections.
This is an outdoor role that requires working in diverse and often challenging conditions. You will be exposed to varying weather, extreme noise, odors, heights, dust, fumes, and hazardous materials such as oil, coolants, gasoline, hydraulic fluid, and raw sewage. The work frequently takes place in the public right-of-way, requiring strict adherence to traffic safety protocols.
A key component of this position is the ability to respond to urgent situations. You must be available to work on-call on a rotating basis to address emergencies, such as sewer stoppages or minor repairs, outside of regular work hours. This ensures that critical infrastructure issues are resolved promptly to protect public health and safety.
