About the Role
Truck Driving Companies are hiring an Over-the-Road (OTR) Truck Driver to transport freight safely and efficiently across long distances, including multi-state routes near you. This position is essential for maintaining supply chain continuity, requiring extended time on the road, strict adherence to safety regulations, and the ability to meet scheduled delivery deadlines.
As an OTR driver, you will operate a Class A commercial tractor-trailer in compliance with DOT regulations and company policies. Your role involves navigating long-distance, multi-state routes while ensuring all pickups and deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule. You will serve as the primary link between the warehouse and the customer, communicating regularly with dispatch regarding route status, delays, and delivery updates.
Day in the Life
Your day begins with thorough pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance. Throughout the trip, you will maintain accurate electronic logs, mileage records, and delivery documentation, strictly following Hours of Service requirements and safety standards. You are responsible for properly securing cargo to prevent damage or loss during transit.
While on the road, you will perform en-route checks and post-trip inspections, promptly reporting any accidents, traffic incidents, or mechanical issues. Effective communication with dispatch is key to resolving any unexpected challenges and ensuring timely deliveries. This role demands focus, reliability, and a commitment to safety in every mile driven.
