About the Role
The Tree Trimmer / Climber plays a vital role in maintaining the safety and reliability of the electrical grid. Working under the direct supervision of a Crew Leader, you will operate within the tree canopy to trim and clear vegetation from overhead electric lines and right-of-ways. Your work ensures safe passage for roads and sidewalks while preserving the health and value of trees.
This position requires a unique blend of technical skill and physical endurance. You will utilize sophisticated climbing and rigging techniques to cut away dead or excess branches using handsaws, power pruners, and chain saws. The role often involves working in close proximity to energized lines, requiring strict adherence to Minimum Approach Distances based on voltage levels. You may also operate truck-mounted lifts, chipper equipment, and perform traffic flagging duties to direct vehicle movement safely.
Work Environment & Schedule
This is a full-time position requiring availability for 10 to 12-hour shifts. During storm season, the schedule may extend to 7 days per week, and weekend or holiday availability is mandatory. The role involves significant travel to various work locations as needed.
