This position serves as a critical liaison within the Trauma Support department, dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of clinical care for trauma patients. Working in collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director and the broader Trauma team, the role focuses on the coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of the Trauma Program's Performance Improvement (PI) activities. The position is pivotal in championing a service of excellence and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration to meet patient needs across the continuum of care.
As a non-patient care role, the position is mandated by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) for Level I Trauma designation and verification. The incumbent acts as a consultant to colleagues and healthcare providers, overseeing clinical activities and ensuring adherence to governmental, regulatory, and professional standards. The role is integral to integrating a collaborative Care Team approach that prioritizes the patient, ensuring discharge planning needs are met and desired quality outcomes are achieved.
The Trauma Support department operates under the supervision of the Trauma Program Director, managing complex performance improvement initiatives required for maintaining Level I Trauma status. The team includes medical and administrative directors, and the role functions as a central hub connecting Health Information Management, Utilization Review, Case Management, and Quality Management. Success in this role requires building strong working relationships with department Chairs and Administrators to drive improvements in documentation and care delivery.
Candidates for this position are expected to possess a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and an active RN license in New Mexico. The role requires at least one year of directly related experience. Specific credentials such as Certified Coding Specialist or Cert Doc Imp Prac/Spec (CDIP or CDIS) are considered non-essential but may be advantageous.
This full-time position offers shift differentials: 17% for weekday nights, 26% for weekend nights, and 15% for weekend days. A sign-on bonus and relocation assistance are available for qualified candidates. Compensation is determined by factors including experience, education, and organizational considerations.
