As a Fleet Maintenance Technician at FedEx Freight, you play a critical role in keeping our logistics network moving. Your primary mission is to provide timely, quality, and cost-effective repair and maintenance for our diverse vehicle fleet, including tractors, trailers, forklifts, and specialized equipment. You will ensure that every asset is safe, efficient, and ready for the road through a combination of preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and necessary modifications.
Your work goes beyond simple repairs; you are the first line of defense in equipment reliability. You will perform routine maintenance and basic diagnostics to identify the source of trouble, making precise adjustments to keep operations running smoothly. A significant part of your day involves collaborating with other technicians to tackle complex repairs and ensuring that all maintenance activities are documented accurately, both in writing and electronically.
You will also handle safety inspections, perform paint and body work as required, and ensure full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. Whether you are working independently or as part of a team, your ability to operate testing equipment, gauges, and precision measurement tools is essential to maintaining the high standards of our fleet.
This role takes place in a dynamic environment that may include exposure to heavy traffic areas, dust, diesel fumes, and noise. You may be required to drive a service van to off-site locations and work in varying climate conditions. The position involves handling chemicals, oils, greases, and paints, and requires the physical ability to frequently lift components weighing approximately 110 pounds with appropriate equipment or assistance.
