About the Role

The Systems of Care Medical Director serves as the state System of Care Medical Director for Georgia within the Office of EMS and Trauma. This role provides specialized medical oversight in the development and administration of the system of care designation program and acts as a liaison with designated facilities, state and national professional organizations, and state and federal partners.

As the state System of Care Medical Director, you will provide essential physician leadership for key aspects of designated facilities, including system oversight, coordination of guideline development, identification and implementation of best practices, system quality improvement, patient safety, education, and research. Furthermore, this position is vital to the overall efficiency and performance of the designation program by promoting the integration of direct and indirect oversight for the comprehensive delivery of specialized health care.

Wellness and Culture

The DPH Commissioner and agency leaders encourage all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well-being. The use of physical activity breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and help employees meet their wellness goals. A maximum of 30 minutes of physical activity may be allocated per workday, typically in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.

DPH accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) as valid. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degrees, diplomas, licensures, and other relevant credentials. The candidate selected for this position may be subject to pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check. Relocation assistance is not provided.
