Founded in 1926, Atkinson Construction is one of the most experienced and diverse civil contractors in the United States. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Clark Construction Group, we provide innovative design and construction solutions for heavy civil projects, building our nation's infrastructure with a commitment to safety, quality, and long-lasting collaborative relationships.
As a Superintendent, you will oversee all field operations on a project, ensuring that both self-performed and subcontracted trade work aligns with contract documents and the project schedule. This is a demanding, high-performance environment designed for candidates who are energized by challenge and thrive under pressure. Success in this role requires significant commitment, including the flexibility to work extended hours during critical project phases or client deadlines.
You will be the champion of our safety culture, implementing and enforcing safety and quality control policies among Atkinson employees and subcontractors. The role involves a dynamic mix of active field work and office administration. You can expect to spend a significant amount of time on active construction sites, navigating uneven terrain, stairs, and ladders, and adapting to various weather conditions and noise levels. While the work is physically demanding, requiring frequent lifting and a full range of motion, there is also desk time for computer work, document review, and meetings.
This is an active, hands-on role where your safety is our top priority. You will be expected to follow Atkinson Construction's safety policies and all applicable laws at all locations. The work environment includes elevated or confined areas with moving mechanical equipment and the fast-paced nature of a project in progress. Beyond regular working hours, you are expected to monitor and respond to communications to address time-sensitive matters or emergencies effectively.
Atkinson promotes a drug-free workplace. A pre-employment drug "fitness for duty" screening is required, and the company conducts random quarterly tests.
