The Baltimore County Office of Information Technology (OIT) is dedicated to supporting the county's operational needs through robust and secure technology infrastructure. This team manages critical data environments that serve the organization's mission, ensuring high availability and efficient data management for all stakeholders.
About the Role
We are seeking a SQL Server Database Administrator to join the OIT team. In this role, you will assist the County with a wide range of database administration tasks, including high availability, cloud technologies, backup and recovery, performance monitoring, security, reporting services, and data warehousing. You will be responsible for maintaining, managing, and assisting in the design of the SQL database environment to support organizational needs.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve optimizing database performance through tuning, implementing data security standards, and managing the physical structure and functional capabilities of the database. You will also manage production, development, test, and training environments, including data refresh processes, and set up Always On Availability Groups. Additionally, you will interact with the Business Intelligence team regarding SSRS and Power BI environments, while documenting processes and developing standard operating procedures.
Work Arrangement
This position is based in Towson, Maryland. The role requires 100% on-site attendance for the first few weeks to facilitate onboarding. Following this initial period, the position may transition to a hybrid work schedule, subject to the County's current bi-weekly work-from-home policy (50% remote, 50% on-premises as of June 1, 2022).
