This position is dedicated to supporting students within the Autism Program (TAP) at Bricker Elementary for the 2026-2027 school year. As a Special Education Paraprofessional, you will work under the immediate supervision of a licensed school professional to provide essential instructional support tailored to Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Your role is vital in ensuring students receive services in the least restrictive environment, helping them navigate academic, social, and life skills challenges.
Your day will be dynamic and student-centered, varying based on the specific needs of the class. You will support instructional programs in individual, small, and large group settings, implementing approved curriculum modifications and accommodations. Beyond the classroom, you will facilitate students in diverse settings such as the lunchroom, playground, field trips, and extra-curricular activities.
A significant part of your responsibilities involves fostering a safe and supportive environment. You will assist students with emotional issues, self-help skills, and physical or medical needs while facilitating crisis intervention and conflict resolution. You will also collaborate closely with educators, administrators, parents, and outside agencies to share observations and effective strategies.
Depending on school administration assignments, you may also perform crossing guard duties to ensure safe traffic crossing or act as a lunchroom monitor, assisting students with mealtime routines and organizing indoor activities during inclement weather.
