At Kriewald Road School of the Arts, we are dedicated to fostering an environment where every student can thrive. As an Elementary Special Education Teacher, your primary purpose is to provide learning activities and experiences designed to help special education students fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. You will serve as a vital partner in developing and modifying curricula to match individual student ability levels, ensuring that education is accessible and meaningful for all.
This role is centered on collaboration and advocacy. You will work closely with students, parents, and a multidisciplinary team of staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) through the ARD Committee process. Your day-to-day involves employing a variety of instructional techniques tailored to the physical limitations of the learning environment and the unique capabilities of your students. Beyond the classroom, you will manage student behavior, provide necessary personal or medical care as outlined in IEPs, and supervise teacher aides to ensure a supportive and structured learning atmosphere.
We believe in maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and professional conduct. This position requires strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively consult with district specialists, outside resource people, and families regarding the educational, social, medical, and personal needs of students. We value open communication and expect you to maintain accurate records while participating in ongoing staff development to continuously improve your job-related skills.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university and possess a valid Texas teaching certificate with the required endorsements or training. A satisfactory outcome of a fingerprinting check is mandatory. While experience working with children is required, student teaching, clinical teaching, or teacher residency experience is preferred.
Interested candidates should submit their application materials, including the required Special Education Teacher documentation, through the district's official portal. We look forward to reviewing your qualifications and inviting you to join our team in supporting the growth of our students.
