As a Sonographer, you will assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by producing diagnostic images of various organs and structures of the human body using high-frequency sound waves. Ultrasound is an extremely operator-dependent imaging modality; therefore, this position requires an advanced understanding of anatomy and vascular physiology.
In this role, you will perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures and interventional procedures, such as biopsies, in accordance with established protocols. You will be responsible for selecting and operating complex ultrasound equipment, regulating technical factors for individual patients, and reviewing studies for diagnostic acceptability. Your day-to-day involves explaining procedures to patients, reviewing patient histories for appropriateness, and providing routine care while practicing aseptic and sterile techniques to prevent the spread of disease.
You will also play a vital role in patient education and support, giving clear instructions to patients and families regarding treatment and involving guardians in the assessment and continuing care of the patient. This position requires the ability to identify physical limitations, respond to behavioral health needs, and recognize signs of abuse or neglect. Additionally, you may be called upon to administer or assist in CPR and other emergency procedures as needed.
Candidates will be evaluated based on their educational background, registry eligibility, and clinical experience. Successful applicants will be expected to participate in continuing education activities and may be involved in instructing students in methods and procedures. The role includes rotating weekends and being on call, with a requirement to respond within 45 minutes for call procedures.
