Vexterra Group is seeking a Senior Software Reverse Engineer to support a Government Customer in Bethesda, Maryland. In this critical position, you will operate at the forefront of cybersecurity defense, isolating and analyzing potentially malicious programs to protect national infrastructure. Your work will involve diving deep into the boot process, kernel, and system internals to devise novel solutions for examining binary behavior.
You will serve as a bridge between complex technical findings and strategic decision-making. The role requires producing high-quality technical reports suitable for both technical audiences and non-technical stakeholders, including customer decision-makers. Beyond analysis, you will actively participate in working groups, customer meetings, proposal writing, and industry conferences, sharing your expertise through papers and presentations.
Your daily workflow will center on performing in-depth static and dynamic analysis on malicious software, such as bots, worms, and Trojans, resident on Microsoft Windows and UNIX-based platforms. Using advanced tools like IDA Pro, debuggers, and in-target probes, you will dissect code to understand security vulnerabilities and provide actionable intelligence. You will also prototype, document, and test new analysis methods and tools to enhance operational capabilities. A key part of your mission is to clearly articulate the operational impact of specific vulnerabilities, advocating for improved reverse engineering processes to strengthen technical exploitation efforts.
