About the Role
This position supports the War Data Platform (WDP), a key initiative within the U.S. Department of War's AI-First strategy introduced in early 2026. The WDP separates business and financial data from operational warfighting data, aiming to accelerate the deployment of artificial intelligence on the battlefield. The platform extends to Unclassified, Secret, and Top Secret environments, supporting collaboration between Combatant Commands, Joint Staff directorates, Senior Executive Service leaders, and operational analysts.
As a Software Engineer, you will operate at the center of WDP's DevSecOps software factory. You will design, develop, and sustain the application logic, service integrations, and automation capabilities that power WDP Core Integration mission systems across NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and JWICS. Your work will directly contribute to the continuous agile delivery of data-driven tools and operational platforms that support warfighter decision-making at scale. You will own multiple feature streams per sprint, collaborating closely with platform engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and system architects to deliver secure, compliant, and operationally reliable software.
Location and Contingency
This role is based in the National Capital Region, covering the Pentagon, Falls Church, and Fairfax. Please note: This position is contingent upon contract award.

Requirements

Nice to Have
Active Top Secret (TS) security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility. Relevant certification in cloud engineering or software development such as AWS Certified Developer - Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD). Experience developing and maintaining software within a DoW or federal classified multi-enclave environment, including familiarity with IL4, IL5, IL6, and JWICS software delivery constraints, DoW STIG compliance requirements, and container hardening standards applicable to classified cloud deployments. Familiarity with Agile and SAFe delivery methodologies. Experience integrating observability and monitoring capabilities into mission software using tools such as Splunk, Grafana, or Prometheus.
