The Social Work/Custody and Removal Coordinator serves as a vital resource within the Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Field Office and designated detention facilities in Natchez, MS. This role is designed to maintain a safe detention environment while providing essential support to the detained noncitizen population. The Coordinator addresses complex issues affecting the ICE mission, including trauma-informed care, victim support, sexual abuse and assault prevention, domestic violence, human trafficking, and medical and mental health coordination.
In this position, you will act as a bridge between ERO officers, facility staff, and detainees. Your day-to-day involves facilitating compliance with agency policies, managing disability accommodations, and conducting wellness checks for individuals with specialized needs. You will provide critical orientation to newly detained individuals, assist with parent-child communication, and support vulnerable populations in specialized housing units, such as those for transgender noncitizens or family residential centers. A key component of the role involves developing individualized departure and release plans, which includes researching resources in the noncitizen's home country and coordinating with family members and service providers in the U.S.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens and successfully pass a background investigation. The Department of Homeland Security's Personnel Security Unit (PSU) must render an Initial Preliminary Favorable Fitness Determination to be considered qualified. A Complete Favorable Fitness Determination is required upon completion of initial and subsequent background investigations.
