As a Part-Time Sergeant in Cincinnati, OH, you will serve as a vital link in the security operations for the CDC facility. This role is designed to ensure the safety and security of government interests through proactive monitoring and rapid response. You will supervise and provide oversight for the CDC OH staff on duty during your shift, managing a team of security officers to maintain a secure environment.
Your day will involve routine checks of offices, laboratories, corridors, and parking lots, ensuring all areas are secure. You will authorize schedule deviations when unusual conditions arise, documenting the reasoning for each change. A significant portion of your time will be spent managing access control, issuing identification badges, and operating visitor center equipment such as x-ray machines and metal detectors. You will also assist with traffic flow and conduct rover foot patrols both interior and exterior to respond to alarms, service calls, and emergencies.
In the event of an emergency, you will coordinate responses with the Security Operations Center, police, and fire departments, while leading evacuations and providing emergency first aid. You will also manage lost and found procedures and participate in quarterly exercises to test the team's responsiveness to various emergency scenarios.
