The System Safety / Human System Integration (HSI) Department ensures our products' Safety and Human Factors disciplines are incorporated into all our engineering and program execution to provide our customers with critical needs. Located in Aurora, CO, this department plays a pivotal role in integrating safety into the very fabric of our engineering lifecycle.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Senior System Safety Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will serve as a bridge between complex engineering requirements and rigorous safety standards. You will work across integrated product teams to eliminate hazards and provide effective controls, ensuring that design and architecture considerations are appropriately allocated and horizontally integrated.
Your day will involve collaborating with Program Management, government approval authorities, and various engineering functions—from Systems and Software to Electrical and Hardware Engineering. You will manage System Safety Working Groups between key Raytheon and Customer representatives, brief safety considerations at technical reviews, and interface with customer safety representatives to gain necessary approvals. This position offers the unique challenge of working on Special Access Programs, requiring a high level of discretion and expertise.
This position requires an active and transferable U.S. government-issued Top Secret security clearance on day one. U.S. citizenship is mandatory, as only citizens are eligible for this level of clearance. The DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process.

Experience with DoD System Safety Programs such as MIL-STD-882 or DO-178. Experience with presentation skills. Experience solving complex problems by leveraging available resources and research material. Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development. Experience interfacing with Human Systems Integration showcasing execution of Human Factors Engineering tasking involving MIL-STD-1472. Experience with Engineering Change Proposals, Engineering Review Boards, and System Safety Working Groups.
