Artera is a SaaS leader in digital health dedicated to making healthcare #1 in customer service. We transform the patient experience with AI-powered virtual agents that support every step of the journey, from self-scheduling and intake to billing. Trusted by over 1,000 provider organizations—including specialty groups, FQHCs, large IDNs, and federal agencies—our platform engages 100 million patients annually, handling 2 billion communications in 109 languages.
Founded in 2015, Artera has consistently been recognized for its innovative technology and business growth. We are an Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Private Company, a Deloitte Technology Fast 500 recipient, and named a top place to work by Built In, Forbes, Newsweek, and Business Insider. Our culture is built on a decade of healthcare expertise powered by AI, standing at the edge of the biggest technological shift in healthcare history.
Artera is hiring a Senior Staff AI Builder to define the future of our agentic platform. You will be the recognized AI-native expert whose influence compounds across squads, turning ambitious AI strategy into the production systems our customers rely on daily. In this role, you will bring industry-leading fluency to planning, evaluation, and reliability, graduating shared capabilities from one squad's project into primitives the whole company builds on.
At this level, you will cut through ambiguity with conviction, tackling systemic problems where quality, velocity, cost, and risk collide. You will own the operational plans shaping our short to mid-term results and set the ethical bar for how builders work with customer data, patient communications, and AI systems. This is a unique chance to lead technical initiatives that materially change business outcomes while mentoring the next generation of builders.
Artera is evolving its work model to focus on three primary U.S. hiring hubs: Santa Barbara, Seattle, and Kansas City. New hires for this role must be based in one of these cities and will be required to relocate if not currently residing in the metro area; we offer a relocation package to support this transition. We are not hiring remote candidates for this position.
While Artera maintains hybrid offices in Santa Barbara and Philadelphia, this specific role is tied to the new hubs. Our hub-based model is designed to cultivate strong local connections and team cohesion.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States and have the ability to provide proof of full-time, long-term authorization. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship or support visa transfers now or in the future.
Our interview process is designed to assess both technical depth and cultural fit. Candidates can expect a series of conversations that include an introductory call, a technical deep-dive into AI-native practices, and discussions on system design and team alignment. We value exceptional communication skills and look for candidates who can frame technical choices in terms of customer impact, revenue, cost, and risk.
Artera is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to fair and equitable hiring practices. All hiring decisions are based on strategic business needs, job requirements, and individual qualifications. We consider all candidates without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, genetics, protected veteran status, or any other protected status.
We believe everyone should belong at their workplace and maintain Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to support this mission. Artera provides reasonable accommodations for applicants and employees in compliance with state and federal laws. If you need an accommodation, please reach out to hr@artera.io. We are committed to providing a work environment free of discrimination and harassment.
