About the Role

GEICO is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer passionate about building high-performance, low-maintenance, zero-downtime platforms and applications. You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission, fostering a culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement.

Our Engineers collaborate with Sr Staff Engineers to innovate, build new systems, improve existing ones, and identify new opportunities to apply your knowledge to solve critical problems. You will lead the strategy and execution of a technical roadmap to increase product delivery velocity and unlock new engineering capabilities. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in the Open-Source Observability and Data platform domains.

Requirements

  • verifiedBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
  • verified3+ years in software development, platform architecture, administration, governance, or infrastructure management
  • verified3+ years working with open-source frameworks
  • verified1+ years in architecture and design roles
  • verified3+ years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, or hybrid data centers)
  • verifiedProficiency in at least one OOP language such as Java, Go, or Python
  • verifiedHands-on experience building complex distributed systems to process large-scale telemetry, with knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
  • verifiedUnderstanding of open-source databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (Clickhouse, Cassandra, Apache Trino), along with big data formats like Parquet or Avro
  • verifiedExperience architecting and designing Observability platform solutions and advanced data analytics using open-source technologies
  • verifiedExperience with continuous delivery (CI/CD), Infrastructure as Code, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • verifiedStrong knowledge of CS data structures and algorithms
  • verifiedExperience with Windows Server administration and Windows Event Log
  • verifiedKnowledge of developer tooling across the software development lifecycle and big data/streaming data pipeline architectures
