The Principal Engineer serves as a force multiplier for the Customer and Commercial product teams, accountable for technical excellence, system integrity, and solving complex problems at scale. This role operates without formal people management, instead partnering closely with Engineering Leads, Product Managers, and Designers to transform product vision into robust, scalable solutions.
You will provide senior technical leadership on how products are built, shaping sustainable engineering practices that enable teams to move quickly while maintaining high standards for quality, security, reliability, and maintainability. As a technical authority, you will lead architectural design and review for complex systems, evaluating upstream and downstream impacts to proactively mitigate cross-system risks. You will align product-level architecture with global enterprise standards and influence the evolution of enterprise architecture when product needs require deviation, supported by data, prototypes, and clear tradeoff analysis.
In this position, you will also serve as a technical authority on security-by-design and regulatory compliance, partnering with security teams to ensure solutions meet cybersecurity expectations and applicable regulations, including SOX, without slowing product delivery. The role demands a mindset that is outcome-driven rather than technology-driven, thinking in systems and second-order effects to define measurable business outcomes such as revenue growth, cost reduction, and customer satisfaction.
