We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to lead our transportation civil design efforts within a remote-first environment.
Position Summary
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will serve as both a technical expert and a team leader on major transportation projects that define California’s transit and rail infrastructure. This role involves advanced civil design work, organizing project meetings, managing and mentoring staff, reviewing technical deliverables, and ensuring strict adherence to high-quality standards. You will focus on transportation design elements including alignments, profiles, grading, drainage, and utility coordination, while preparing PA&ED and PS&E packages. This position offers the opportunity to lead high-visibility projects while collaborating with clients, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Project & Team Leadership: Lead and facilitate project meetings, coordinate effectively with clients and government agencies, and manage internal teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Staff Management & Mentorship: Assign tasks, provide technical guidance, and support the professional development of engineers and designers.
- Transportation Design Oversight: Direct and review designs for railroad and transit facilities, including alignments, profiles, grading, and drainage systems.
- Construction Documents: Oversee and review the preparation of construction drawings, specifications, and PS&E packages.
- Grading, Drainage & Utilities: Lead complex designs for grading, drainage, and utilities, ensuring constructability and compliance with all relevant standards.
- Stormwater Analysis: Review and guide advanced hydrologic and hydraulic analyses.
- Agency Coordination & Permitting: Interface with jurisdictional agencies to support permitting processes and secure necessary approvals.
- Technical Documentation: Review and contribute to design memoranda, reports, and technical studies.
- Project Delivery: Collaborate with clients and subconsultants, supporting projects through all phases from planning and design to construction.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Licensure: Active California Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil Engineering is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in civil transportation design, construction, and/or project management on U.S.-based projects.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead project teams, mentor junior engineers, and manage technical deliverables.
- Technical Proficiency: Expertise in Bentley OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Engineering Knowledge: Strong command of civil engineering standards, design criteria, and QA/QC practices.
- Remote Work Readiness: Disciplined and self-motivated professional capable of succeeding in a remote work environment.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $165,000.00 – $200,000.00 annually (varies based on skill and experience).
