At Ravinia, we believe in the transformative power of shared, live-music moments and their ability to inspire individuals, strengthen communities, and foster a more connected world. Our 36-acre park is home to North America's longest-running outdoor music festival and its most artistically diverse. Over 100 different events, featuring a mix of classical, rock, pop, jazz, R&B, indie, and country performers, make up a typical summer season across our open-air and indoor stages.
Beyond presenting outstanding performances, our mission as a not-for-profit organization is to develop broader, more diverse audiences and performers through our Reach Teach Play® community engagement programs and the Steans Institute's artistic training initiatives. Together, these efforts serve tens of thousands of students, families, and emerging professional musicians.
As a Safety and Security Staff member, you will ensure the well-being of artists, guests, and staff by protecting property and premises. Working under the direction of the Security Manager, you will monitor, patrol, and respond to security incidents throughout the summer concert season. Your shifts will vary from park open to park close.
The Ravinia guest experience extends far beyond the performance on stage. In this role, you will often be the first person our guests interact with, requiring you to provide excellent customer service while enforcing park policies and procedures. You will promote a safe and secure environment through proactive awareness, assist guests during ingress and egress, and respond to medical and safety incidents in accordance with established emergency protocols.
We are recruiting for multiple Safety and Security positions (Security I and Security II). To be considered for the role, a pre-employment screening and background check are required. Priority in hiring will be given to applicants who are available to work the entire season from June through September.
Ravinia is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We strongly believe that diversity of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives is essential to our success. We strive to create and sustain an equitable and inclusive environment for all our employees and do not discriminate on the basis of any protected status under federal, state, or local law. We encourage individuals of all identities and abilities to apply.

Ravinia Festival, headquartered in Highland Park, IL, operates as North America's oldest music festival within the music industry. The organization presents over 100 diverse events each summer, featuring a wide range of performances that include renowned soloists like Yo-Yo Ma and John Legend, alongside the annual summer residency of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Under the leadership of President and CEO Jeff Haydon, the festival focuses on community engagement through educational initiatives such as Reach Teach Play, while Chief Conductor Marin Alsop curates multiple weeks of concerts with the orchestra.
The festival maintains a year-round staff of approximately 55 employees, with the workforce expanding significantly during the summer season to include ushers, food service personnel, and operational support. A key component of the Ravinia experience is the Steans Music Institute, a prestigious summer conservatory located on the 36-acre grounds. This program offers fully paid fellowships to 60 to 70 talented young professional musicians from around the world, allowing them to study with esteemed faculty and perform alongside festival headliners.
Situated in a gently wooded area just north of Chicago, the park features multiple venues including the 3,350-seat open-air Pavilion, the Lawn, the 850-seat Martin Theatre, and the 450-seat Bennett Gordon Hall. The facility accommodates guests with various dining options and allows children up to age 15, as well as high-school and college students, to attend classical performances on the Lawn free of charge.
