UofL Health is a fully integrated regional academic health system dedicated to a single mission: delivering patient-centered care to every patient, every day. Our network includes five hospitals, four medical centers, nearly 200 physician practice locations, and specialized facilities like the Frazier Rehab Institute and Brown Cancer Center. With a team of over 12,000 highly skilled professionals, we are committed to excellence in healthcare delivery across the Louisville region.
As a Registered Nurse (Hospital-Based) at our Louisville location, you will serve as a vital member of the care team, delivering competent nursing care to patients of varying age groups. This role is designed for a nurse who utilizes the nursing process and practice standards to achieve safe, optimal health outcomes for patients and their families.
In this position, you will integrate Nursing Practice, Leadership, Professional Profile, and Practice Outcomes competencies. You will be responsible for coordinating care, communicating effectively with the multidisciplinary team, and acting as a lifelong learner. The role requires the ability to care for complex patients and actively participate in initiatives to improve the quality of care within the clinical area.
Under the supervision of a clinical nurse manager, your day will involve conducting systematic assessments of patient health status from admission to discharge. You will independently administer medications, ensuring strict adherence to safety guidelines, and collaborate with patients and families to construct individualized care plans based on current scientific knowledge and national safety goals.
You will serve as an advocate for patient rights and preferences, providing culturally sensitive education and preparing patients for discharge. Additionally, you may orient new team members, supervise students, and act as a relief charge nurse when unit needs arise. A key part of your role involves participating in evidence-based practice activities, such as journal clubs, to continuously improve care delivery and remain up-to-date with compliance standards.
This position operates on a day shift schedule (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM). The role requires a commitment of three 12-hour shifts per week. Overtime is infrequent.
