About the Role
The Registered Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in fulfilling physician orders regarding the assessment, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary system deficiencies and abnormalities. This position involves assessing patient conditions, determining the need for respiratory care, and providing appropriate therapy. The role includes setting up and maintaining ventilator support, performing diagnostic studies, and evaluating results in relation to patient needs.
As a member of the "Code Blue" and "Rapid Response" teams, the therapist serves critical functions in emergency situations, including drawing arterial blood gases, maintaining patient airways, providing artificial ventilation, and performing arterial punctures on adult and pediatric patients. The role also involves assisting physicians with bedside procedures such as bronchoscopy, fluoroscopy, and GI Lab interventions, while participating in in-service education to ensure continuous professional growth.
