The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Michigan State University is part of one of the top research universities in the world. MSU has been advancing the common good with uncommon will for more than 160 years, pushing the boundaries of discovery and forging enduring partnerships to solve the most pressing global challenges. The department is home to MSU's ultrafast science research team, where scientists and engineers collaborate to execute complex relocation and benchmarking plans for advanced imaging systems.
This postdoctoral (research associate) position, supervised by Prof. Chong-Yu Ruan, offers an immediate opportunity to work within the ultrafast science research team. The successful candidate will lead the effort to relocate an existing high-brightness femtosecond electron microscope system to a newly renovated facility. This role involves implementing precision controls aimed at achieving multimodal imaging at sub-50 femtosecond resolution, building on recent benchmark studies. The position is for up to two years, with the potential for renewal based on the availability of new funding.
Review of applications will begin on January 15, 2025. Submissions received after this initial date will be considered until the positions are filled.
