To be part of our organization, every employee should understand and share in the YNHHHS Vision, support our Mission, and live our Values. These values—integrity, patient-centered care, respect, accountability, and compassion—must guide what we do, as individuals and professionals, every day.
The Registered Nurse serves as a vital member of our critical care teams, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individual patient care according to unit policies. In this role, you will provide supervision to non-RN personnel and, when assuming the charge role, delegate and oversee unit activities. You will function as a preceptor to new staff and demonstrate specialized competency in neuro and cardiac care, including airway management, tracheostomy care, and the use of advanced life support devices.
We offer opportunities across several high-acuity environments dedicated to complex patient care:
This fast-paced, 14-bed critical care unit cares for adult patients with complex cardiac and medical diagnoses, including myocardial infarction, cardiogenic shock, unstable arrhythmias, and heart failure. Our staff are trained in advanced heart failure management, including short- and long-term mechanical circulatory support (such as intra-aortic balloon pumps, Impella catheters, and LVADs) and evaluation for advanced therapies and transplantation.
This 18-bed cardiac surgery unit specializes in care for complex post-operative patients, including CABG, valve replacements, aortic dissection repairs, heart transplants, and LVAD implantations. Notably, this is the only unit in the YNHH health system that cares for patients requiring ECMO (VV or VA bypass). Nurses are trained on devices based on their experience and progression of skills, with a strong emphasis on critical thinking.
This 14-bed hybrid unit consists of 8 ICU and 6 stepdown beds. We specialize in caring for patients post-complex vascular surgery, such as aortic repairs, and post-cardiac surgery patients in our ICU beds. The stepdown beds accommodate patients with a variety of complex heart and vascular diagnoses.
Candidates must hold a current license as a registered nurse in the State of Connecticut. All newly hired registered nurses must have current BCLS certification or obtain it within one month of hire. We encourage all RNs to advance through the SPIRE clinical advancement program and highly encourage clinical specialty certification.
YNHHS is an Equal Opportunity Employer, Affirmative Action, and Disability/Veteran employer. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background.
