To be part of our organization, every employee should understand and share in the YNHHS Vision, support our Mission, and live our Values. These values—integrity, patient-centered care, respect, accountability, and compassion—must guide what we do, as individuals and professionals, every day.
The Registered Nurse works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or Clinical Coordinator to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and supervise individual patient care on a nursing unit. This role involves providing supervision of non-RN personnel and, when assuming the charge role, delegating and supervising unit activities. The position may require working on other nursing units based on staff and patient distribution to maintain a high level of service.
The Cardiac ICU is a fast-paced, high-acuity, 14-bed critical care unit caring for adult patients with complex cardiac and medical diagnoses, including myocardial infarction, cardiogenic shock, unstable arrhythmias, and heart failure. Patients are treated with medical and interventional management. Our nursing staff are trained in advanced heart failure management, including short- and long-term mechanical circulatory support (such as intra-aortic balloon pumps, Impella catheters, and LVADs), as well as evaluation for advanced therapies and transplantation.
The Cardiothoracic ICU is an 18-bed cardiac surgery unit specializing in care for complex post-operative patients, including CABG, valve replacements, aortic dissection repairs, heart transplants, and LVAD implantations. This is the only unit in the YNHH health system that cares for patients requiring ECMO (VV or VA bypass). Patients may also require additional devices including IABP, Impella/VADs, and/or CRRT. Nurses are trained on these devices based on previous experience, skill progression, and critical thinking expectations.
This 14-bed hybrid unit consists of 8 ICU beds and 6 stepdown beds. We specialize in caring for patients post-complex vascular surgery, such as aortic repairs, and post-cardiac surgery patients (CABG and valve replacements) in our ICU beds. The stepdown beds accommodate patients with a variety of complex heart and vascular diagnoses.
