About the Team

McClure 6 is one of three General Medicine Units at the University of Vermont Medical Center, dedicated to caring for patients with acute and chronic multi-system health needs. Our unit specializes in a wide range of conditions, including elder care with a focus on delirium prevention, respiratory disease, renal and dialysis care (UVMMC is the only hospital in Vermont accommodating in-patient dialysis), diabetes, wound care, alcohol withdrawal, substance use disorders, various GI disorders, coagulopathies, bariatric care, and infectious disease.

Many patients arrive directly from the ICU or emergency department, creating the atmosphere of a medical step-down unit. We also admit patients from ICUs in outlying community hospitals throughout Vermont and northern New York. Notably, on-call duties are not required for this position.
