About the Role
At Lakeland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, the Dietitian plays a pivotal role in ensuring the highest quality of nutritional care for our residents. This position is dedicated to planning, organizing, and directing the clinical operations of the Food Services Department in strict adherence to federal, state, and local regulations. The primary mission is to guarantee that every resident receives safe, effective, and personalized nutritional services on a daily basis.
As a key member of the interdisciplinary team, you will bridge the gap between clinical nutrition and daily care. Your day involves collaborating closely with nursing staff, physicians, and families to develop individualized dietary plans of care. You will conduct meal observations, review resident assessments, and adjust menus to meet specific health needs while respecting resident preferences and rights. This role is essential for maintaining the health and well-being of our community, ensuring that dietary interventions are timely, accurate, and compassionate.
Working Environment
The role requires a dynamic presence throughout the facility. You will work in office areas as well as actively engage in dining rooms, resident rooms, and food service preparation areas. The position involves frequent interaction with residents, families, medical staff, and government agencies, requiring adaptability to various conditions and circumstances. Maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment is a constant priority, alongside the ability to move intermittently throughout the workday to perform inspections and care duties.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circlePlan, organize, and direct the Clinical Nutrition Department in compliance with federal and state regulations

- check_circleParticipate in state and federal surveys and develop plans of correction for clinical deficiencies
- check_circleProvide leadership training and supervise staff on administrative and supervisory principles

- check_circleConduct dietary assessments to identify residents' nutritional needs and those at risk
- check_circleMonitor resident rights, including the right to refuse food, and resolve related complaints or grievances
- check_circleConduct sanitation compliance rounds and ensure food service areas meet safety and hygiene standards
- check_circleMaintain accurate records of dietary interventions, assessments, and resident care plan modifications
- check_circleCollaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and evaluate individualized resident care plans
- check_circleAssist in budget planning, forecasting, and making departmental adjustments to conform to approved budgets
- check_circleReview and verify resident diet orders, menus, and therapeutic plans against physician prescriptions
Requirements
- verifiedBachelor's degree in Dietetics from an accredited college or university
- verifiedRegistered with the American Dietetic Association
- verifiedOne (1) year clinical experience in an institutional health care setting
- verifiedCurrent, unencumbered active license to practice as a dietitian in this state
- verifiedAbility to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- verifiedKnowledge of dietary practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines
- verifiedAbility to read and interpret food service cost reports and financial data
